The hyper-expandable Eberlestock Dragonfly hunting pack is one of our all time favorites. It is as versatile as the Skycrane II and Just One packs and includes an rigid frame-sheet and aluminum stays designed to carry heavy loads comfortable. Up to 177 lbs per the company.
The NT1 fleece exterior is soft and quiet. For 2012 the webbing and straps on Eberlestock’s packs have taken on the matching camo patterns of the packs themselves. Very cool.
The two, large exterior pockets remind me of the Mystery Ranch SATL packs – roomy and uncomplicated. There is packable space behind this, however, accessible by a top loading storm collar. In addition the patented CAM expansion system allows the Dragonfly pack to unzip down the middle and unfold to open a humongous netted cargo area. The unzipped zippers are then able to accept the matching zippers of Eberlestock’s Super Spike Camp duffel allowing a total expansion to roughly 7000 ci.
The quick-draw hunting rifle scabbard which accommodates all but the bulkiest AR platforms is a patented feature as well. 2 hydration bladder hooks and a removable fanny pack make this an undeniably feature heavy pack. And heavy it is. 9.5 lbs with the fanny pack attached, 8.5 lbs without it.
A tactical version is made from 1000D nylon and sports a radio pocket and tactical sized weapon scabbard among a few other differences.
