1 Gallon of Water per Person, per Day?

Recommendations for emergency water storage are for 1 gallon per person, per day (more in certain conditions).  I’ve been on a two-day journey to figure out if that is a realistic number for me or not.

In addition to going to work I undertook a 2 mile pack-hike each day and walked another two miles late in the day.  I used no AC or fan in my car and left the windows up (result: an unbearable sweat bath) for the 60-70 minutes per day I was in my truck.

This is not an instructional video, just a learning experience for me, one that has changed the way I think about my water needs and emergency planning.
